The COGAR Group, Ltd. awarded the Veterans Affairs Medical Center contract for Unarmed Guard and Dispatcher Services in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

The COGAR Group, Ltd. (COGAR), a leading professional services, security and protection services firm, announces that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded the firm with a contract to perform police services to include unarmed security guards, communication officers, and dispatch services at the VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

COGAR personnel provide 24/7 security services for VAMC. COGAR performs security and protection for multiple buildings and posts via visitor control, surveillance camera and alarm monitoring, central dispatch services, monitor Police and Fire Department frequencies and emergency assistance support. COGAR provides a highly trained guard unit of over 25 individuals for these requirements. Some of the unique requirements of this contract includes the training and qualifications of the Alarm Monitor/Dispatch personnel to have a thorough understanding of First Responder procedures, be National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certified, trained and certified in Public Safety Tele-communications, West Virginia Automated Police Network (WEAPON) trained, maintain CPR/First Aid credentials, and ensures emergency responsiveness and coordinates with on-site VA Police and Fire Departments as well as local emergency services, County, State, and Federal Law Enforcement officials during emergency situations.

The COGAR Group, Ltd. was awarded this contract through a competitive bid process as a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. The contract includes a base and four option periods valued at over $6.0 mil. COGAR was tasked to transition the follow-on contract within a fifteen (15) day period with a contract start date of January 1, 2017.  COGAR has a long standing history of providing professional security services to the military and federal government since 2005. COGAR is proud to partner with the VA on this significant requirement.

Admin Assistant/HR Assistant JOB DESCRIPTION

The Human Resource Assistant/ Admin Assistant is responsible for the administrative support of day-to-day operations.

Essential Functions

1. Answers phones for the Company.
2. Receives and escorts employees and visitors.
3. Performs HRIS data entry and personnel file maintenance (WINTEAM and hard copy).
4. Assists employees and supervisors in the field (Operations)
5. Assists with new-employee orientations.
6. Maintains confidential personnel files and personnel actions.
7. Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status.
8. Assists the with HR projects.
9. Assists with benefits administration.
10. Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
11. Provides information by answering questions and requests.
12. Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
13. Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning administrative projects; expediting work results.
14. Assists with contract startups (data input and tracking).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required, plus one year of office/clerical support experience.
Previous Administrate Assist/HR experience.
