ARMED SECURITY OFFICER
LANDOVER, MD
Position Description:
The Armed Security Officer (ASO) supports the security and protection of the DIA facility in Landover, MD, through vigilant monitoring, access control, emergency response, and patrol operations. ASOs are entrusted with the safety of DIA personnel, visitors, classified material, and infrastructure. This position requires a high degree of reliability, professionalism, and adherence to strict security standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Access Control:
-
Monitor and control entry and exit points for personnel, vehicles, and materials.

Ensure all personnel and visitors are properly identified and cleared before allowing access.

Conduct badge and identification verification.
-

Surveillance and Patrol:
-
Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols of the facility.
-
Monitor CCTV, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and other security technology systems.
-
Report and respond to suspicious activities or security breaches.

Emergency Response:
-
Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies (e.g., fire, medical, security).
-
Provide initial incident assessment and coordinate with law enforcement or emergency services as needed.

Assist in building evacuations and lockdowns.

Reporting and Documentation:
-
Complete daily logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
-
Maintain records in accordance with contract and DIA procedures.

Weapons Handling:
-
Carry and operate government-authorized firearms in accordance with post orders and use-of-force policies.

Maintain weapon qualification and certification.
-

Customer Service:
-
Interact professionally with DIA personnel, visitors, and other contractors.
-
Provide directions, information, and assistance while maintaining security posture.

Position Requirements:
-
U.S. Citizen
-
Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI access
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
At least one year of security, military, or law enforcement experience
-
Must pass background checks, drug screening, physical fitness assessment, and medical evaluation
-
Must complete and maintain firearms qualification (semi-annual)
-
CPR/AED/First Aid certification (must be obtained and maintained)

Completion of required ASO training and certification programs

Physical and Environmental Requirements:
-
Stand or walk for long periods of time (8–12 hours per shift)
-
Operate in varying indoor and outdoor conditions
-
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
-
Respond quickly in emergency situations
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Prior military or law enforcement experience
-
Familiarity with DIA, DoD, or IC facility security protocols
-
Experience using access control systems and intrusion detection systems
